Confirm the electricity service for the actual project

Hydro-Québec’s April 1, 2026 tariff book includes rate CB for remunerated blockchain uses with installed power of at least 50 kW. This is not a blanket approval for smaller installations. Ask the electricity distributor to confirm the classification, available capacity and conditions that apply when your project starts.

Review the site before buying machines

Prepare the address, equipment list and complete continuous load, including cooling. Have a qualified professional review the electrical installation. Check municipal requirements, lease or ownership conditions, insurance, heat rejection and noise. A residential electricity bill does not establish permission for a mining operation.

Compare home operation and hosting in writing

For hosting, identify the facility and contracting party. Request the billing method, installation charges, recurring services, interruptions and return terms.
